Thanks for joining me! This is my very first blog post.
Who Am I? I’m someone who likes to plan and organize outdoor adventures with and for my girlfriends; backpacking, hiking, traveling, and exploring. At the end of the day, I want to have inspired you to not only get outside with those you love, but to be – kinder, wiser and other focused.
I’m a bit late to this social network/influencer community for many reasons. Even as I’m writing this I can feel the discomfort – the fear of the unknown – take a deep breath…exhale…continue. For perspective, let me share the reasons I’ve struggled with deciding to do this:
- I’m an introvert living in an extremely extroverted world, which surprises most people as I am fairly social, however, I make the time for a lone time and have learned to balance the two over the years. There are many admirable traits of an introvert, such as we are great listeners, which doesn’t seem to be a skill that can be learned. If you ever want to understand the introvert in your life read Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain.
- I’m already on a screen more than I care to be between my day job and checking in on friends on social media, doing research and reading the news.
- The pressure of taking the perfect photo to post does not excite me. When I browse Instagram, I’m amazed at the beauty of the pics and appreciate the creativity and time to capture that pic. But boy, it exhausts me to think about the process (how many different poses and re-takes did that one take?). Plus, it goes against my desire to be and live in the moment.
- I am very aware of the negative impact that social media can and does have on us as humans so I struggle with adding to that mix.
Why am I doing this then? To get as many females as I can outside. Not sure how, but this seemed like the right direction as I do enjoy writing. To start, I plan to share some amazing backpack trips I’ve done with dear friends and loved ones – hoping it will inspire you to do the same.
In the meantime, a big shout out to my Girl Tribe (the ladies in the photo), for trusting me on these adventures, and for their encouragement and support as I do my best; Encouraging woman to get outside – at any age! No experience required.
